Ans: (C) 5 days
( Rule: If A’s one day’s work is 1/n, then A can complete the whole work in n days ).
Q 4183) If 12 persons can complete a work in 20 days, then find the number of days required to complete the same work by 15 persons.
(A) 12 days (B) 15 days (C) 16 days (D) 18 days
Ans: (C) 16 days
Solution:
According to the question, ratio of number of persons = 12 : 15 = 4 : 5
∴ Ratio of time taken = 5 : 4 ( Rule applied: if ratio of number of persons required to complete a work is m : n, then the ratio of time taken by them will be n : m ).
Suppose 15 persons can finish the same work in 𝑥 days.
Then, 20 : 𝑥 = 5 : 4
20/𝑥 = 5/4
Cross multiply
20 x 4 = 5 x 𝑥
Q 4184) Atul is thrice as good a workman as Amar and takes 10 days less to complete a work than Amar takes. The number of days taken by Amar alone to complete the work is
(A) 12 days (B) 15 days (C) 18 days (D) 20 days
Ans: (B) 15 days
Solution:
Let Amar complete the work in 𝑥 days.
∴ Atul complete the work in 𝑥/3 days.
According to the question, 𝑥 – 𝑥/3 = 10 days
2𝑥/3 =10
2x = 30
𝑥 =15 days
