Q 4146) Atul starts from a point ‘A’ walks 6 km towards South and turns West and walks 8 km, and further turns South and walks 9 km. How far and in which direction is he from the point ‘A’ now ?

Solution
Distance between starting and ending point = AB + BE = 60 + 100 = 160 meters. Now he is heading towards east.
AB= 6 km, BC= 8 km and CD= 9 km; therefore, AB + CD = 6 + 9 =15 km = AE
AND, BC = ED = 8 km
Therefore, AD = √ AE² + ED² = √15² + 8² = √ 225 + 64 = √ 289 = 17 mk and in South West direction
Q 4147) Anil is standing facing north. He goes 60 meters ahead and turns left and goes for 30 metres. Now he turns right and goes for 50 metres and finally turns to his right and walks 30 meters. How far is he from starting point and in which direction is he heading ?

Distance between starting and ending point = AB + BE = 60 + 100 = 160 meters. Now he is heading towards east.
