Ans: (C) 62
Solution:
In CHART, C=3 + H=8 + A=1 + R=18 + T=20, Total =50 ; In CROSS, C=3 + R=18 + O=15 + S=19 + S=19, Total =74 and In TRAIN, T=20 + R=18 + A=1 + I=9 + N=14, Total=62
Q 2581) The sum of Anil’s and his father’s age is 60 and the difference between their age is 36. The Anil’s father age is —
(A) 48 years (B) 52 years (C) 56 years (D) 62 years
Ans: (A) 48 years
Solution:
Suppose, the age of Anil’s father is y years, then age of Anil = 60-y years.
According to the question, y-(60-y)=36 years
y-60+y =36, or, 2y =36 +60= 96, or, y =48 years

Q 2583) A and B bought pens and pencils from a shop. A bought 3 pens and 6 pencils by paying an amount of Rs. 180. B bought 5 pens and 2 pencils by paying an amount of Rs. 116. How much did A spend on buying pencils ?
(A) Rs.135 (B) Rs.136 (C) Rs.137 (D) Rs.138
Ans: (D) Rs.138
Solution:
Suppose, the price of one pen is Rs. y and the price of one pencil is Rs. z.
According to the question,
3y+6z =180, or, 3y=180-6z
y=(180-6z)/3, or, y=60-2z
Now, 5y+2z =116
5(60-2z)+2z=116
300-10z+2z=116, or, 300-116=10z-2z, or, 184=8z
z=184/8=23
A spend on buying pencils= 23×6= Rs.138
