Q 2524) Selling price of a book is Rs. 240. If the profit made by bookseller is 20%, then the cost price of the book is —

Ans: (B) Rs. 200

Solution:

Here selling price and percentage of profit are given. We need to calculate the cost price.

If cost price is Rs. 100, then profit is Rs. 20, therefore selling price is Rs. 120.

Now, when selling price is Rs. 120 then, cost price is Rs. 100

Therefore, when selling price is Rs. 240  then, cost price = 100/120 x 240 = Rs. 200

Q 2525) If 3x-4 / 3x+2 = 2/3, the value of x is —

(A) 12/3      (B) 16/3      (C) 17/3     (D) 18/3

Ans: (B) 16/3

Solution:

3x-4 / 3x+2 = 2/3

9x-12 = 6x+4

9x-6x = 4+12

3x =16

x=16/3

Q 2526) If 30 % of 80 = x% of 96, then x is

Ans: (A) 25

Solution:

30% of 80 = 24

x% of 96 = 24/96 x 100 =25
