Q 3769) 4 years ago, the age of A was two times of the age of B. The present age of A is 8 years more than the present age of B. The present age of A is

(A) 20 years      (B) 24 years      (C) 28 years      (D) 32 years

Ans: (A) 20 years

Hint: Suppose the present age of B=x years

Then the present age of A would be x+8 years

4 years ago, the age of A  was (x+8-4) years and B was 2(x-4) years

Thus,   x+8-4 = 2(x-4)

or x+4=2x-8 or  x =12 years 

So, present age of A=x+8 =12+8=20 years.

Q 3770) If 60% of a number is 300. The 40% of that number will be —

(A) 236          (B) 232         (C) 228          (D) 200

Ans: (D) 200

Solution: The number is 100/60 x 300 =500

40% of 500=200

Q 3771) If G=7 and GIRL=46, then COY =

(A) 39        (B) 40        (C) 41        (D) 42

Ans: (D) 42

Solution: G =7

In GIRL,

G =7 + I=9 + R=18+L=12, Total 46

Therefore, in COY,

C=3+O=15+Y=24, Total =42

Solution:

Q 3773) The missing number will be?

50% of 220 = ? x 10

(A) 10      (B) 11        (C) 12        (D) 13

Ans: (B) 11

Solution: 50% of 220 = ? x 10

Or, 50/100 x 220 = ? x 10

Or  ? = 50x 220/10×100 = 11

Q 3774) Anil sells an article by increasing its cost by 10% first, and then reducing it by 10%. The profit or loss will be —

(A) Profit 1%      (B) Loss 1%        (C) No profit no loss      (D) None

Ans: (B) Loss 1%

Solution: Net effect = 10-10 + 10 (-10)/100 = -1%
