Ans: (C) 45 years

Solution:

Suppose the present age of father is x years.

Therefore, the present age of son = 1/3x years

As per question after 15 years,

1/3x + 15 = 1/2 (x+15) = 1/2x +15/2 and 1/3x + 15 = 1/2x +15/2

1/3x – 1/2x = 15/2 -15

2x -3x/6 = -15/2

-x/6 = -15/2

x =15×6/2 =45 years

Q 2520) A rectangular piece of paper 22 cm x 4 cm is folded without overlapping to make a cylinder of height 4 cm. The volume of cylinder will be —

(A) 154 cm³ (B) 156 cm³ (C) 158 cm³ (D) 159 cm³

Ans: (A) 154 cm³

Solution:

In the question, length of the paper becomes the perimeter of the base of the cylinder and width becomes height.

Let the radius of the cylinder = r and height = h

Perimeter of the base of cylinder = 2πr = 22 cm

or 2πr = 2 x 22/7 x r = 22

Therefore, r = 7/2 cm

Volume of the cylinder = V = πr²h = 22/7 x 7/2 x 7/2 x 4 = 154 cm³
