(A) 3          (B)        (C) 6        (D) 5

Ans. (C) 6

Solution: Suppose x be added.

Then, 6+x / 12+x  =2/3

3 (6 +x) = 2 (12+x)

18 + 3x = 24 + 2x

3x -2x = 24 -18

x =6

Q 2487) The value of x in 3x-5/4x+2 = 3x+4/4x+7 is

(A) -43/21      (B) -3/21       (C) -23/21      (D) -13/21

Ans: (A) -43/21

Solution:

3x-5/4x+2 = 3x+4/4x+7

(3x-5)(4x+7)=(4x+2)(3x+4)

12x²+21x-20x-35=12x²+16x+6x+8

x-35=22x+8

-21x =43

x=- 43/21

Q 2488) A  finish a work in 12 days, B in 18 days and C  in 9 days. If they work together, the job will be completed in —

(A) 8 days      (B) 7 days        (C) 5 days       (D) 4 days

Ans: (D) 4 days

Solution:

A finish a work in 12 days, in one day he will finish 1/12 of that work

Similarly, in one day  B  and C  will finish 1/18 and 1/9 of that work.

So,  they will finish 1/12+1/18+1/9= 3+2+4/36=1/4 work in one day.

Hence, they will finish the work in 4 day.

Q 2489) Total surface area of a cylinder whose radius is 7 cm and height is 15 cm is

(A) 968 cm²      (B) 986 cm²        (C) 689 cm²        (D) 869 cm²

Ans: (A) 968 cm²

Solution:

=2π x 7 (7 +15)

=2 x 22/7  x 7 (22)

=44 x 22 = 968 cm²

Surface area of a cylinder=2πr (r+h)
