Question: The area of ΔPQR is

(A) 8 cm²       (B) 10 cm²      (C) 12 cm²       (D) 13 cm²

Ans: (B) 10 cm²

Hint: The area of ΔPQR = ½bh = ½ x 4cm x 5cm = 10 cm²

Q 2361) Study the adjoining picture and answer the following question:

Question: The height QM is—-, if area of ΔPQR = 10 cm²

(A) 2 cm       (B) 2.5 cm    (C) 4 cm        (D) 5 cm

Ans: (B) 2.5 cm

Hint: PR = base = 8cm ;  Area =10 cm² ; QM = height = ?

Area of ΔPQR = ½ x b x h

10 = ½ x 8 x h

h = 10 / 4 = 2.5 cm

Q 2362) In the given figure, the area of ΔPQR is 36 cm² then the base BC is

(A) 24 cm       (B) 25 cm    (C) 26 cm        (D) 28 cm

Ans: (A) 24 cm

Hint: base BC = 36 x 2 / 3

Q 2364) 4 years ago, the age of A was two times of the age of B. The present age of A is 10 years more than the present age of B. The present age of A is

(A) 34 years      (B) 44 years      (C) 54 years      (D) 64 years

Ans: (C) 54 years

Hint: Suppose the present age of B= x years

Then the present age of A would be x + 10 years

4 years ago, the age of A  was (x + 10 – 4) years and B was 2 (x – 4) years

Thus,   x + 10 – 4 = 2 (x – 4)

or  x + 6 = 2x – 8 or  x = 14 years 

So, present age of A = x + 10 = 14 +10 = 24 years.
