CUET-General Aptitude-10/05/2025
Dear Students, we welcome you in our post CUET-General Aptitude-10/05/2025.
In all previous years’ exams, there is at least one question on ‘profit and loss’.
Today’s CUET-General Aptitude-10/05/2025 post will demonstrate how to solve questions based on profit and loss:
Q 3730) A trader offers discount 50% + 50% on a shirt of M.R.P. Rs.800, find the selling price of shirt. (CUET-UG General Test 2022)
(A) Rs. 200 (B) Rs. 400 (C) Rs. 600 (D) Rs. 700
Ans: (A) Rs. 200
Solution:
Selling Price = M.R.P. x [(100-50)/100] [(100-50)/100] = 800 x 50/100 x 50/100= Rs. 200
Q 3731) A shopkeeper had a loss of 20% on selling an article for Rs. 7,160. At what price should he have sold the item to make a profit of 30%? (CUET-UG General Test 2023)
(A) Rs. 8,988 (B) Rs. 10,678 (C) Rs. 11,635 (D) Rs. 12,007
Ans: (C) Rs. 11,635
Solution:
Selling Price = Rs. 7,160 and Loss = 20%,
therefore Cost Price =100/(100-Loss) x Selling Price = 100/(100-20) x 7,160 = Rs. 8,950
Now, required profit = 30%, therefore New Selling Price= (100+Profit)/100 x Cost Price = (100+30)/100 x 8,950 = Rs. 11,635
Q 3732) A trader earned a profit by selling an item, which is three times the discount offered. If the discount offered is 6.25%, what is his profit percentage? (CUET-UG General Test 2024)
(A) 10% (B) 15% (C) 20% (D) 25%
Ans: (D) 25%
Solution: SP = Rs.100 Less Discount Rs. 6.25, Less Profit Rs.18.75 = CP Rs.75
Profit percentage = Profit/CP x 100= 18.75/75 x 100 = 25%
