Q 3558) In a survey, 60% of those surveyed owned a car and 65% of those surveyed owned a scooter. If 45% owned both car and scooter, what percent of those surveyed did not owned either a car or scooter?
(A) 10% (B) 15% (C) 20% (D) 25%
Ans: (C) 20%
Solution:
Percentage of those surveyed who did not owneither a car or a scooter=100-(15+45+20)=20%
Q 3559) 12 notebooks of a class were corrected with pen while 14 notebooks were corrected with pencil. If 4 notebooks were corrected with both, what is the strength of the class?
(A) 14 (B) 16 (C) 20 (D) 22
Ans: (D) 22
Solution:
Total number of students= Notebooks corrected with only pen 8 + notebooks corrected with only pencil 10 + notebooks corrected with both 4 = 22
Q 3560) In a class of 124 students, 100 students take part in either golf or chess or both. A total of 60 of them take part in golf. A total of 56 of them take part in chess. What is the number of students taking part only in chess?
(A) 44 (B) 40 (C) 38 (D) 36
Ans: (B) 40
Solution:
Number of students who take part in both the game= 60+56-100=16. Number of students who take part in chess=56-16=40.
Q 3561) In a group of 124 students, 37 students did not participate in any of the two games: golf and chess. 45 students participated in golf and 61 students participated in chess. How many students participated in golf only?
(A) 26 (B) 30 (C) 34 (D) 38
Ans: (A) 26
Solution:
Number of students who participated in two games=124-37=87. Number of students who participated in both games=(45+61)-87=19. Number of students who participated in golf only=45-19=26
