Q 2594) If the cost of 6 pens and 9 pencils is Rs. 240, then the cost of 4 pens and 6 pencils will be —

(A) Rs.160     (B) Rs.180     (C) Rs. 200   (D) Rs. 240

Ans: Rs.160

Solution:

As per question, the cost of 6 pens and 9 pencils = Rs. 240

Therefore, by dividing 3, the cost of 2 pens and 3 pencils = Rs. 80

As required, by multiplying 2, the cost of 4 pens and 6 pencils = Rs.160

Q 2595) The cost of 5 pens is the same as the cost of 8 pencils. If the cost of one pen is Rs.16, then the cost of one pencil is —

(A) Rs.10     (B) Rs.12     (C) Rs. 14    (D) Rs. 15

Ans: (A) Rs.10

Solution:

As per question, the cost of 5 pens = Rs. 16 x 5 = Rs. 80

Further, as per question, it is equal to the cost of 8 pencils, i.e Rs. 80

Therefore, the cost of one pencil = 80/8 = Rs. 10

Q 2596) A trader gains 10%, by selling a shirt for Rs. 1100. The cost price of the shirt is —

(A) Rs. 950      (B) Rs.1000      (C) Rs. 1050    (D) Rs. 900

Ans: (B) Rs.1000

Solution: Cost Price of the shirt = (100/100+Gain%) x Selling Price

=(100/100+10 ) x 1100  =100/110  x 1100  = Rs. 1000

Other Question

Q 2597) How many 6 cm long cubes  can be cut from a big cube whose edges are 24 cm long ?

(A) 58      (B) 60     (C) 62    (D) 64

Ans: (D) 64

Solution:

Volume of small cube = 6 x 6 x 6 cm3

Volume of big cube = 24 x 24 x 24 cm3

Number of 6 cm long cubes that can be cut from a big cube whose edges are 24 cm long = 24 x 24 x 24 / 6 x 6 x 6 = 64

Q 2598) The value of y from the given figure is —

CUET2024-General Test-26/05/2024

(A) 30°      (B) 32°      (C) 34°     (D) 36°

Ans: (D) 36°

Solution:

When two lines intersect, the vertically opposite angles are equal

Therefore, 8y/2 + 2y/2 + 8y/2 + 2y/2 = 360°

20y/2 =360°; or, 10y =360°; or y =36°
